Bioactive lipids play a key biological role in many physiological and pathophysiological functions, from regulating homeostasis to cell proliferation and metabolism. Dysregulated bioactive lipid levels have been reported in a range of diseases including cancer, diabetes, immune system disorders, and cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases. Bioactive lipids analysis via metabolomics and lipidomics can capture significant as well as early and subtle changes in bioactive lipid levels, providing insight into their specific functions and revealing potential biomarkers and/or therapeutic targets.

Sapient has developed a semi-targeted LC-MS/MS method optimized specifically for rapid analysis and discovery of bioactive metabolites in your biosamples.

Specifically our bioactive lipids analysis includes the measure of oxylipins (eicosanoids, docosanoids, octadecanoids), porphyrin analogs, VLCDCAs, PUFAs, FAHFAs, bile acids, glucuronidated sterols, endocannabinoids, and pro-resolving compounds as well as thousands of additional unknown metabolites. We currently have approximately 300 chemical standards covering these compound classes, and through spectral networking have categorized thousands of analogs of known classes within the method.
