Jain Lab was founded at University of California San Diego with a mission to innovate mass spectrometry (MS) to probe human biology deeper and at population scale. This multi-disciplinary team developed the next-gen MS systems we use today.
Jain Lab was awarded over $30M in Federal, Foundation, and Industry funding to tackle biological questions across diverse disease areas, vaccine development, maternal fetal health, environmental studies, nutritional studies, and drug response studies.
Sapient was founded by the core Jain Lab members upon seeing the potential of its technologies to transform biomedicine. Now, Sapient is one of the largest capacity biomarker discovery labs in the world.
Sapient was awarded a $9.2M grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support studies aimed at identifying biomarkers to inform novel nutritional, disease-prevention, and disease-treatment interventions. The grant was an extension of prior funding awarded to Sapient from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2020.
Sapient’s high complexity CLIA laboratory received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), confirming adherence to stringent CLIA regulations. Sapient can support rapid translation of biomarker discoveries to regulated clinical applications, accelerating development and deployment of clinical diagnostics and therapies.
Sapient extended its multi-omics services with the launch of discovery proteomics offerings utilizing its high throughput mass spectrometry-based platform. The methods enable measure of thousands of proteins across diverse biological pathways in biofluids and tissue, and provide new layers of insight into disease and drug response.
Sapient launched DynamiQ™ as its next-generation data insights engine for drug discovery and development. DynamiQ enables rapid curation of Sapient’s unique datasets comprising multi-omics measures and matched real-world data collected in >56,000 samples from individuals across timepoints – among the most deeply phenotyped datasets available for longitudinal analysis.
